Position Details

Role: Veterinary Receptionist
Status: Full-time
Salary: $17.00–$21.00 per hour, based on experience
Schedule: Monday-Saturday. 1-2 days off per week. Shifts are usually from 7:20 am - 4:30 pm or 5 pm. Or 8:30 am - 6:30 pm. Saturdays are 7:45 am - 2:30 pm

Northwood Oaks Veterinary Hospital is looking for a friendly, organized, and compassionate Veterinary Receptionist to join our growing team in Gainesville, FL. As the first point of contact for our clients and patients, you'll help create an exceptional experience while keeping our busy hospital running smoothly.

We're proud to provide outstanding veterinary medicine and exceptional client service, and we're looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys building relationships, and is passionate about helping both people and pets. While this role is primarily front desk focused, you'll also have opportunities to support our medical team with basic exam room duties when needed.

What You'll Do

  • Welcome clients and patients with warmth and professionalism
  • Manage check-in, check-out, appointment scheduling, and a multi-line phone system
  • Answer client questions regarding appointments, medications, and general pet care
  • Process payments and maintain accurate client and patient records
  • Coordinate patient flow with veterinarians and technicians
  • Bring patients into exam rooms and obtain medical histories
  • Record patient vital signs
  • Assist veterinarians during routine examinations
  • Safely restrain patients for examinations and sample collection
  • Prepare vaccines, assist with laboratory work, and maintain clean, organized exam rooms

What Our Veterinary Receptionists Bring

  • Minimum of 1–2 years of veterinary hospital experience
  • Familiarity with veterinary terminology and common veterinary products
  • Experience with veterinary software such as Avimark preferred
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and conflict-resolution abilities
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and stand for extended periods
  • Positive attitude and commitment to exceptional client care
