Calvert Animal Hospital is looking for a friendly and professional Veterinary Receptionist to join our team in Owings, Maryland. As the first face clients see and the first voice they hear, you’ll play an important role in making every pet owner feel welcomed, informed, and supported.

What You’ll Do
- Greet clients and patients warmly and maintain a welcoming reception area
- Answer a multi-line phone system and schedule appointments efficiently
- Triage incoming calls, provide basic service information, and relay messages to the clinical team
- Check clients and patients in and out
- Collect, verify, and update client and patient information
- Process payments and manage cash and credit transactions accurately
- Maintain client and patient records in the hospital’s practice management software
- Prepare and organize medical records, laboratory reports, and vaccination certificates
- Manage appointment reminders, confirmations, cancellations, and follow-up communications
- Keep the reception and waiting areas clean, organized, and welcoming
- Communicate effectively with veterinarians and veterinary technicians to support continuity of care
- Perform general administrative duties, including emailing, faxing, mailing, filing, and ordering supplies
- Follow hospital confidentiality standards and established policies
What You’ll Bring
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- Previous veterinary clinic or medical office experience preferred
- Experience with veterinary practice management software; Cornerstone experience is preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills
- The ability to multitask, prioritize, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Accurate recordkeeping and data-entry abilities
- Comfort working around animals and interacting compassionately with pet owners
- The ability to remain calm and professional during stressful situations
- Clear verbal and written communication skills
