Where Cat Hair Is a Fashion Accessory

Do you consider cat hair a fashion accessory? Introduce yourself to strangers’ dogs? Have you ever forgotten your neighbor’s name but somehow know the name, breed, and personality of every dog on your block?

If so, Liberty Lake Veterinary Center wants to talk!

We’re looking for a Part-Time Kennel Assistant to join our fantastic team. We’re a well-established, four-doctor hospital that genuinely appreciates the different personalities, talents, and unique skills each team member brings to our practice.

Our Kennel Assistants are an important part of keeping pets comfortable, cared for, and safe while helping the hospital stay clean, organized, and running smoothly. If you’re dependable, detail-oriented, comfortable getting your hands dirty, and think puppy kisses and kitty headbutts are legitimate workplace perks, you might fit right in.

Why Our Kennel Assistants Love Working Here

At Liberty Lake Veterinary Center, we know a great workplace is about more than the job itself. It’s about having teammates who help one another, a schedule that provides flexibility, and a culture where you can bring your personality to work.

Here’s some of what you can look forward to:

  • Flexible scheduling to help support a healthy work-life balance
  • A well-established four-doctor veterinary hospital
  • A supportive team that values different personalities and individual strengths
  • Opportunities to build relationships and trust with a wide variety of boarders
  • Professional development and continuing education opportunities
  • Occasional coffee runs on us
  • Plenty of puppy kisses and kitty headbutts
  • A clinic culture that celebrates your unique awesomeness
  • Meaningful work that makes a difference for pets and the people who love them

What Our Kennel Assistants Do

Kennel care is hands-on, active work, and attention to the little things makes a big difference. You’ll help us maintain a safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment while providing attentive care to the animals entrusted to us.

Responsibilities include:

  • Follow written and verbal instructions carefully
  • Pay close attention to details when caring for animals
  • Maintain clean and sanitary kennel and hospital spaces
  • Clean and disinfect work areas to help prevent the spread of germs
  • Walk dogs outdoors
  • Maintain and scoop outdoor yard areas
  • Observe pets and pay attention to their behavior and well-being
  • Medicate animals as directed
  • Safely assist with animal restraint
  • Ask for help when you need it and offer help when teammates need you
  • Take ownership of assigned tasks and responsibilities
  • Look for productive ways to help during slower periods
  • Help keep kennel areas organized and ready for incoming boarders
  • Dress appropriately for changing weather conditions
  • Provide attentive, compassionate care to every animal
  • Tolerate—and preferably enjoy—puppy kisses and kitty headbutts

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for someone who understands that excellent kennel care requires reliability, observation, attention to detail, and a willingness to jump in wherever needed.

Our ideal Kennel Assistant is ready to:

  • Follow instructions and pay close attention to details
  • Be observant and accurately follow written directions
  • Take ownership of tasks and responsibilities
  • Work independently while also being a supportive teammate
  • Ask for help when needed
  • Offer help to coworkers when they need an extra hand
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation
  • Work both indoors and outdoors
  • Stay active throughout the shift, including standing and walking
  • Work in changing weather conditions
  • Safely assist with medicating and restraining animals
  • Stay productive and take initiative during slower periods
  • Treat every animal with patience, compassion, and respect
  • Be available for morning and evening shifts, weekends, and holidays

And, of course, being completely unfazed by a little pet hair on your clothes is definitely a plus.

The Extras You’ll Actually Feel

At Liberty Lake Veterinary Center, we genuinely enjoy the different personalities and skills our team members bring to work.

You’ll have flexibility in scheduling to help maintain a healthy work-life balance, opportunities to build trust with a variety of boarders, and teammates who understand that asking for help—and offering it—is part of being a great team.

There may even be an occasional coffee run on us.

Most importantly, you’ll be doing work that matters. Every clean kennel, careful observation, dog walk, medication, and reassuring interaction contributes to the comfort and well-being of the pets in our care.
