Tired of hearing about work-life balance but never actually seeing it? Looking for a fresh environment where people can bring their authentic, funky selves to work every day? Excellent. Pacific Heights Veterinary Hospital may be exactly what you’re looking for.

We’re a well-established, newly renovated two-doctor practice looking for an experienced Veterinary Receptionist to join our fantastic team. We genuinely appreciate the different personalities, perspectives, and skills each person brings to our hospital—and we want you to bring yours.

Our Veterinary Receptionists are essential to the client and patient experience. You’ll be the friendly face, calm voice, and organized problem-solver helping pet owners navigate their visits while keeping communication flowing between clients and our medical team.

With flexible scheduling, four-day workweeks, regular lunch breaks, and no weekends, nights, on-call hours, or holiday shifts, we believe a rewarding veterinary career and a great life outside of work can absolutely coexist.

Why Our Veterinary Receptionists Love It Here

  • Flexible scheduling with four-day workweeks
  • No weekends, nights, on-call hours, or holiday shifts
  • Regular lunch breaks
  • A newly renovated, well-established two-doctor practice
  • A supportive team that celebrates individuality and authenticity
  • A workplace committed to compassionate, low-stress veterinary care
  • Mentoring and support as you continue developing your career
  • A team that believes excellent veterinary care and having fun at work are not mutually exclusive
  • A fridge stocked with drinks and snacks
  • Occasional coffee runs, ice cream parties, team meals, and yes—the occasional midday dance party

What Our Veterinary Receptionists Do

As a Veterinary Receptionist, you’ll help create a welcoming client experience while keeping communication, appointments, and the front desk running smoothly. You’ll:

  • Welcome clients and patients with warmth, professionalism, and compassion
  • Deliver exceptional customer service during every client interaction
  • Answer and manage incoming phone calls, emails, and other client communications
  • Schedule, confirm, and coordinate appointments efficiently
  • Check clients and patients in and out of the hospital
  • Maintain accurate and complete client and patient records
  • Process payments and assist clients with invoices, estimates, and account questions
  • Communicate appointment instructions, hospital updates, and follow-up information clearly and compassionately

  • Ask for help when you need it and readily offer help to your teammates
  • Contribute to a positive environment built on teamwork and mutual respect

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for an experienced veterinary client service professional who knows that great reception work takes organization, compassion, communication, and the ability to keep things moving when the lobby, phones, and schedule all get busy at once.

You’ll bring:

  • Previous veterinary reception or veterinary client service experience
  • A passion for pets, people, and exceptional customer service
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organization, time-management, and multitasking abilities
  • The ability to remain calm, compassionate, and professional in a busy veterinary environment
  • Confidence communicating with clients during both routine and emotionally challenging situations
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • A positive, supportive, team-first mindset
  • Confidence taking ownership of tasks and responsibilities
  • The ability to anticipate the needs of clients, veterinarians, technicians, and teammates
  • A willingness to ask for help and support others when they need it
  • Commitment to learning, professional growth, and continued skill development
  • An appreciation that life is short, so you might as well smile while you still have teeth
  • Your own unique awesomeness—we’re serious about that one

The Extras You’ll Actually Feel

Work-life balance should be something you experience, not just something you read about in a job ad. Our four-day workweeks and flexible scheduling give you more time for life outside the hospital, while regular lunch breaks help give you room to recharge during the workday.

Inside the hospital, we want people to feel comfortable being themselves. You’ll find a team that appreciates different personalities and strengths, along with a fully stocked snack fridge and the occasional coffee run, ice cream party, team meal, or midday dance party.

Most importantly, you’ll be part of a practice where your client service skills matter. You’ll have opportunities to keep learning, grow professionally, and make a meaningful difference for pets, their people, and your community.
