Pet Bather - Crofton, MD

Crofton Veterinary Center is seeking an energetic, fun-loving, and dependable animal lover to join our grooming department as a Pet Bather/Assistant. This is a part-time, daytime position – no evenings or weekend work! Typical hours for this position are 8:30am - 2pm, 3 days per week. This is not a seasonal position. 

As a Pet Bather/Assistant, you will play a crucial role to help our client’s fur-babies look and feel their best. Your primary responsibility will be to provide bathing and preliminary grooming services to pets, including bathing, drying, brushing, and nail trims. 

The purrfect Pet Bather/Assistant will have a genuine love for animals, a gentle touch, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Our hospital boasts an enjoyable working environment with great leadership and excellent support staff. 

Some of the responsibilities that go along with this particular opportunity include: 

• Bathing and shampooing pets according to personalized pet specifications 

• Drying pets using appropriate techniques and tools 

• Brushing and detangling fur to prepare for further grooming 

• Trimming nails, cleaning ears, and brushing teeth 

• Assisting groomer with preparing pets for more intricate grooming procedures 

• Maintaining a clean and organized work area, including the kennel and hospital areas 

• Providing compassionate care to pets to ensure their comfort and safety 

• Assist the groomer with scheduling/confirming grooming appointments 

• Walking dogs (including grooming and hospitalized patients) 

• Restocking hospital area 

• Washing, folding, and putting away laundry 

• Request needed supplies such as shampoo and other grooming materials to the manager for reordering

• Ability to follow instructions properly 

• Comfortable being around animals (cats, dogs) 

• Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (e.g. lift up to 40 lbs)
