Memorial Veterinary Pet Care Hospital is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Part-time Kennel Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and a strong understanding of dog handling and training. As a Kennel Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of the animals in our care while providing exceptional customer service to pet owners.
We are looking for someone who has the following qualities:
- Capable of physical labor
- Strong organizational skills
Responsibilities:
- Cleaning and maintenance of pet kennels, cat condos, general boarding areas, and kitchen
- Feeding and watering pets
- Monitoring for any abnormalities
- Treating guests, co-workers and customers in a professional, courteous manner
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Assisting other coworkers and performing other duties as needed
Requirements:
- Dog/Cat boarding background preferred. Some dog handling skills and comfortable with all breeds and sizes of dogs
- Must be able to make quick and educated decisions when it comes to dog interaction.
- Knowledge of general dog behavioral cues, indicators and health issues to watch for.
- Must have strong communication skills
- Be willing and able to work in all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain).
- High volume of cleaning up dog messes feces and kennels when required.
- Cleaning, maintaining and sanitizing all pet enclosures, exercise yards, and common areas.
- Must be able to frequently lift 45 pounds
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills
- Must possess a love of animals and patience when handling pets
